about savyasachi sahai
An honours graduate from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, Savyasachi K. Sahai began his legal career with Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. (“AMSS”) at their Mumbai offices. Working with India’s largest law firm in their Financial and Regulatory Practice Team resulted in an unparalleled exposure to the who’s who of the financial and corporate world. At AMSS, Savyasachi was intricately involved with a wide variety of matters which range from cross-border transactions worth millions of US Dollars to advising clients in relation to the complex labyrinth of financial laws and their regulatory overseers such as the Reserve Bank of India, Securities Exchange Board of India, the Indian Stock Exchanges etc. He also counselled and represented clients in relation to contentious matters in the securities market and pertaining to company law before various forums.
After gaining substantial experience in the financial capital of India, Savyasachi then moved to Bangalore for a brief stint with eminent tax lawyer, Mr. A. Shankar followed by working with Senior Counsel, Mr. Shashikiran Shetty, primarily before the High Court of Karnataka at Bangalore with the goal to hone his skills in the field of litigation.
He then moved to New Delhi, the home of the Supreme Court of India, and worked with Mr. Gaurang Kanth, the standing counsel of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India (“CAG”) and the Municipal Council of Delhi. Here he had the opportunity to litigate extensively and appear in nearly every forum in New Delhi and was also involved with high profile cases such as the powers of the CAG to audit Telecom and Electricity Companies, Railway bribery scam of 2013 as well as Uphaar Fire Tragedy of 1997.
Savyasachi then branched out to set up Sahai & Co., which with his unique blend of experience in the financial and corporate set up of Mumbai and the hard core litigation in Bangalore and New Delhi, has emerged as a full service law firm with the ability and know how to counsel clients in pre-contentious scenarios i.e. corporate advisory and transactional work, as well as contentious matters, such as court room litigation and arbitration.
